It happens over time, things change and if you looked back you wouldn’t even recognize things because of all of the changes. I think we can all agree that the waterfront looks substantially different than it did 5 years ago. I moved to Bellingham 13 years ago and I probably wouldn’t believe the amount of growth that’s happened just on the “other side” of the railroad tracks.
I wrote about the Acid Ball, which for me, was the first time I really knew the waterfront was not the place it was in 2007. What I mean is, the process of moving the Acid Ball to its final place it is today. As you can see, the Acid Ball is pretty close to where the new farmers market is:
Currently, there are two Bellingham Farmers Market’s. There is a market on Saturday that most people have heard of, but there is now, a brand new market on Wednesday. This new little market runs from 4:00-7:00 through September.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I pulled up. I was a little surprised by the location, I thought it was going to be closer to the park. After walking across the parking lot I was very happy I wore comfortable shoes. As far as what is available at the Wednesday Bellingham Farmers Market, I was so excited with the variety at the market. There was a combination of local businesses promoting their products, local farmers, and small artisan shops.
I wanted to share a few pictures of what the waterfront looks like now. If you haven’t been down there it looks like things are really developing well. I’m excited to see what happens next.
